8th turns 100

2022 marks the Centenary year for the 8th Gillingham Scout Group. This year we will be celebrating in a number of different ways and having a focus on fundraising to reignite our hut rebuild project.
To start our celebrations every Squirrel, Beaver, Cub, Scout, Explorer and Leader will be receiving a special Centenary badge that can be worn on your uniforms. Congratualtions to James Harvey who won the badge design competition and was presented with his design and the first badge by June Laming (wife of Arthur Laming, ex-GSL and creator of the building we currently meet in) at Spartan Cubs last night.
To start the fundraising efforts everyone will recieve a tube of Smarties. The Smarties are to be enjoyed however you see fit, however, we would then like you to spend the year filling the tube with £1 or 20p coins before returning it to your section leader when it is full. If every member of the Scout Group filled their tube just £1 coins (there's space for 33), we would raise over £7000 for the hut rebuild project.
